According to the official story, shot dead. The deputy is said to be alive, but Cooper was killed on the spot. You can bet your three dollar bills and wooden nickels that the truth surrounding this little "assassination" will never be revealed before it is spun beyond recognition. There is little doubt that Bill simply went too far. This is the same sort of thing that got Kennedy shot. If "they" kill presidents to cover up these truths, how much chance does one lone ex-military officer have? My own research corroborates every aspect of what Bill had to say in those areas where his subset of information intersects my own. Militia leader killed, deputy wounded during attemped arrest

EAGAR - A national leader of the militia movement has been killed and an
Apache County sheriff's deputy wounded in a shootout, authorities said.
William Milton Cooper, 58, of Eager, had hosted a talk show broadcast on
the Worldwide Christian Radio out of Nashville, which receives it via
phone from his home in St. Johns. He had millions of listeners
worldwide, including Timothy McVeigh.
The deputy, whose name was being withheld by authorities, was shot twice
in the head while trying to arrest Cooper, a state Department of Public
afety spokesman said today. Cooper was killed by another officer.
Several deputies were attempting to arrest Cooper, who was armed with a
handgun, said Officer Steve Volden, a spokesman for the DPS, which was
investigating the shooting.
He said details of the shooting would be released later today.
The deputy was in critical condition at a Phoenix hospital early today,
Volden said.
Cooper was one of the most widely known prophets of the "patriot
movement," railing at the federal government and talking of doomsday
omens in his radio broadcast.
McVeigh, who was executed in May for the bombing of the federal building
in Oklahoma City, listened to Cooper's broadcasts for inspiration,
according to testimony by James Nichols, brother of Oklahoma
bombing co-defendant Terry Nichols during a 1996 pretrial hearing.
Like some other patriot leaders, Cooper refused to get a driver's
license or pay federal income taxes, saying he is willing to risk
getting ticketed and has found a legal way to avoid the taxes.
The patriot movement grew during the 1990s, fed by a series of news
events - the siege of Randy Weaver in Idaho, the raid on the Branch
Davidians near Waco, Texas and the signing of gun-control laws

Just got this from a friend, apparently it is 'true' that Bill has been shot
dead by 'law enforcement'! Sure wish we had some 'peace officers' around

Conspiracy theorist and former militia member William Cooper was slain in a shootout with police.
RăspundețiȘtergereTo many, William Cooper was merely a laughably paranoid, far-right conspiracy theorist. In his famous 1991 book, Behold a Pale Horse, Cooper wrote that President Kennedy was assassinated to prevent the exposure of a secret pact with space aliens.
On his shortwave radio show, Cooper argued that the U.S. government had carried out the Oklahoma City bombing and that it was using remote mind-control devices to establish a socialistic "New World Order."
As it turned out, Cooper, a one-time member of the so-called Second Continental Army of the Republic, was far more dangerous than your garden-variety conspiracy fabulist.
Before law enforcement officers served a warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Cooper E-mailed pals that "I will ... try to kill as many as I can before they kill me."
He almost succeeded. After shooting a sheriff's deputy twice in the head, Cooper was killed by police on Nov. 6. The deputy is expected to survive.
The firefight was a disastrous ending to a standoff that had begun in 1998 when federal authorities charged Cooper with tax evasion and bank fraud. Hoping to avoid a violent showdown, agents deferred serving the arrest warrant for over three years.
Then, last July, a local warrant was issued for Cooper's arrest because he allegedly had left his hilltop property to threaten a passerby with a gun.
In the 17-officer operation in November, two sheriff's deputies disguised as pickup-driving civilians tried to lure Cooper away from his house and his large stock of weapons. Cooper surprised them by driving, not walking, to come scare them off.
When the officers identified themselves, Cooper drove home and then almost killed an officer when he swerved around a roadblock erected in front of his house. He shot the other deputy as he ran from his truck to the house.
William Cooper was killed by multiple shots before he made it inside. An acquaintance of Cooper's said that the officers were lucky to get him when they did, because Cooper kept a semi-automatic AK-47 by the front door.
