Carter Copter is an next evolutionary step from the autogyro and helicopter. It has wings to cruise faster and more efficiently than helicopters. What is remarkable is that this machine broke a particular barrier when it comes to rotary aircraft.
The CarterCopter is an
experimental two-bladed, compound autogyro developed by Carter Aviation
Technologies to demonstrate slowed rotor technology. The design has an
unpowered rotor mounted on top of the fuselage, wings like a
conventional fixed-wing aircraft mounted underneath, and a pusher
propeller at the rear of the fuselage.
This is a video that ends with a bang. Produced in 2003, it shows flight tests of the CarterCopter high-speed autogyro, which has crashed 8 times in 5 years - and no-one has been hurt! Check out the website - www.cartercopters.com - for the full story...

Gyrodyne zbura mai repede. :)
